American Barn Stable Block in East Farleigh
At National Timber Buildings, we’re proud to work alongside respected industry professionals to bring high-quality timber structures to life. One recent example is our collaboration with Mark Scott Arenas on a private equestrian property in East Farleigh, where we crafted and erected a bespoke American Barn-style stable block.
This project highlights what can be achieved when expertise in groundwork and stable design come together in perfect harmony.
The Project Brief:
The original site featured a small and outdated stable block that no longer served the needs of the property owner. The client’s goal was clear: to replace the old structure with a larger, more functional American Barn that would support daily equestrian activity, enhance comfort and welfare for horses, and integrate seamlessly with the existing arena and landscape.
Mark Scott Arenas were brought in to handle the demolition, groundwork, utilities, and preparation. With their strong reputation for delivering quality equestrian surfaces and infrastructure, they were a natural fit for managing the initial phase of this build.
Our Role:
As a locally recommended stable supplier, we were delighted to be brought in by Mark Scott Arenas to design, supply, and erect the new timber stable block.
Working to our 2024 American Barn specification, we delivered a structure that combines practicality with durability, including:
- 4 rear top doors with chewstrips to enhance ventilation and protect timber surfaces
- 2 full-width 8’ sliding doors for easy access and smooth day-to-day operations
- 8 roof lights strategically placed to maximise daylight inside the barn
- Lined eaves with 34″ OSB for enhanced weather resistance and interior finish
From planning through to erection, we worked closely with Mark Scott Arenas to ensure every detail aligned with the layout and infrastructure they had prepared.
Once the building was up, their team returned to install high-quality rubber matting throughout, ensuring comfort, safety, and ease of maintenance.
A Trusted Partnership:
This project was a brilliant example of how our trusted relationships with equestrian contractors can result in an exceptional end product. We’ve worked with Mark Scott Arenas on other projects in the past, and we were pleased to be part of this one again, helping them deliver a modern, high-performance stable solution for their client.
They also undertook renovations to the property’s existing arena, further enhancing the value and usability of the site as a whole.
The Result:
The finished American Barn is not only practical and robust, it’s built to last and designed with the everyday needs of horses and their owners in mind. The seamless integration of groundwork, infrastructure, and building elements ensures that this stable block will serve the property well for many years to come.
